I recently collaborated with Kelly of Studio DIY for her #StudioDIYWallCrawl series to create a guide of my favorite NYC murals - and this week the post is LIVE! Head on over HERE for the full map that covers both Brooklyn and the Lower East Side!
When Studio DIY reached out to me to do the collab initially a couple months back, I couldn't contain my excitement! I have been following Kelly's blog for a little while now, and I felt so honored that they wanted me to help concoct a post, haha. It also seemed like the PERFECT collab opportunity because I am a huge fan of street art - it's one of my favorite sources of urban inspiration. Every time I'm in NY, I'm always keeping my eyes open and photographing street art as it is - so why not help create a guide?! I felt like I was being asked to go on an epic street art scavenger hunt, and I was 10000% on board!
I (unfortunately) don't live in the city, so I was a little bit concerned how I would go about photographing everything by a certain date at first - but I had plenty of time to work on everything, so it ended up being okay in the end. I also felt a liiiiittle bit self conscious about trying to take some photos of myself as I'm muuuuuch more comfortable behind the camera as opposed to being in front of it, haha. Additionally, I'm not a fashion blogger of any sort, and I feel like a TON of fashion bloggers are using street art as backdrops to photograph their looks right now... it's impossible to not compare my mediocre wardrobe to theirs... as I wear the same 2 shirts constantly all day every day LOL.
Overall, this was one of the most fun collabs I have ever done, and I'm so glad I got to be a part of #StudioDIYWallCrawl! I look forward to seeing what other cities Kelly covers in her fun series! (I have a feeling it's going to have me lusting to travel everywhere) ;)
